Photovoltaic power generation hydrogen production mainly uses the direct current generated by the photovoltaic power generation system to directly supply hydrogen production power to the hydrogen production station. Compared with the traditional power station, the photovoltaic DC power generation system reduces the process of inversion and boost. The main equipment and facilities include photovoltaic modules, combiner boxes, supports, foundations, grounding devices, etc. The photovoltaic modules can be configured in series and parallel according to the input voltage and current requirements of the hydrogen generation station, thus improving the system efficiency.

At present, the technology of hydrogen production by electrolysis of water is mature, the equipment is simple, the operation and management are convenient, and the hydrogen production is of high purity and no pollution. There are mainly three technical routes. Hydrogen production from alkaline electrolyzer. The electrolytic cell has a simple structure, is suitable for large-scale hydrogen production, is cheaper, and has a low efficiency of about 70% to 80%. The main equipment includes a power supply, a cathode and an anode, a diaphragm, an electrolyte, and an electrolytic cell box. The electrolyte is usually a sodium hydroxide solution, and the electrolytic cell mainly includes a unipolar type and a bipolar type.
Polymer membrane electrolyzer (PEM Electrolyzer) for hydrogen production. The efficiency is higher than that of alkaline electrolytic cell, mainly using ion exchange technology. The electrolytic cell is mainly composed of a polymer film and two electrodes, and due to the high proton conductivity, the working current of the polymer film electrolytic cell can be greatly improved, thereby improving the electrolysis efficiency. With the advancement of proton exchange membrane and electrode precious metal technology, the cost of hydrogen production in polymer film electrolyzers will be greatly reduced.
Hydrogen production from Solid Oxide Electrolyzer. It can work at high temperature, part of the electric energy can be replaced by heat energy, with high efficiency and low cost. The solid oxide electrolyzer is the most efficient equipment among the three electrolyzers. The waste heat after the reaction can be combined with the steam turbine and refrigeration system. The efficiency can reach 90%.
